National Cerebral Palsy Day
  • WMS Celebrates National Cerebral Palsy Day

    March 25, 2015 was National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. Americans were encouraged to wear green in honor of the day.The event, authorized by Congress, recognizes that cerebral palsy is one of the most common forms of lasting disability in children. Cerebral palsy is a disorder related to a brain injury, affecting muscle movement, that occurs before, during, or shortly after birth.Tameka Davis and Arquize Artis brought gift bags, snacks, and green ribbons to celebrate this special occasion.

Weldon Middle School students will remain actively engaged through technology, problem solving skills and character education.  It is the mission of Weldon Middle School to produce productive young citizens in our community.  They are also ready to enter high school and work toward college and career readiness.

Community Involvement
  • WMS Fitness Center
    The fitness center is open daily from 3:30 - 5:30 pm to members of the community. Various members from different churches, agencies, and organizations have been working out.

Lunch at Ruby Tuesday
  • Lunch with Principal Stewart
    Akayla Frazier (5th Grade) and Brandeis Williams (7th Grade) was privileged to eat lunch at Ruby Tuesday for being the only two students to make the Principal's List for the 3rd Nine Week Grading Period. Congratulations Akayla & Brandeis! Keep up the good work.

NCMLE Conference
  • WMS Staff Presents at NCMLE
    A select group of WMS Staff was privileged to attend and present at the North Carolina Association of Middle Level Educators Conference held in Greensboro March 13 - March 15, 2015. 

    The first session was entitled "How to Create a Robust Classroom Culture" where the focus was on transforming your classroom environment into a space that is safe intellectually, emotionally, and physically for all children and conducive to learning. Cooperation contracts, building student leadership, and cheers and chants were the focus of the session. 

    The second session focused on Anchor Activities and things to do when students finish their work early. Teachers were introduced to a variety of Choice Boards and Journal Activities. Participants had an opportunity to walk away with ready-to-use resources for any classroom.

    Shanetta D. Pittman is the assistant principal at Weldon Middle School. Ms. Pittman brings an array of expertise to the district. She has served as the AIG Facilitator for Weldon City Schools, Literacy Coach of Weldon City Schools, Assistant Principal at Roanoke Valley Early College and Weldon Elementary School.
